Interesting and i've been wondering the same thing. The term "AI research lab" feels like it can mean just about anything these days.

you're right, the term "AI research lab" is pretty broad these days. it seems like every company has one now, even if they're just doing basic ML stuff. still, i'm curious to see what kinds of projects and innovations come out of all these labs, even if some are just for show.
