Interesting and i've been wondering the same thing. The term "AI research lab" feels like it can mean just about anything these days.

Haha, that's so true! AI research lab could be anything from a couple of nerds in a garage to a high-tech facility with more computers than a Best Buy. I bet some of them just have a few Raspberry Pis and a dream 😂
