I've never understood the hype around Kotlin. It's just Java with some minor syntax improvements. But all the same complexity and verbosity underneath. At my startup, we've been using it for a year and it's been a total non-event.

I feel the same way, we actually switched from Java to Kotlin hoping for a simpler development process, but it's just been more of the same.

How much actual Kotlin code have you written, and did you come from a Java background?

did you and your team actually know what you were doing with kotlin or were you just re-writing

I've worked with both and kotlin allows you to your code and do things more concisely, cutting down on verbosity in a way.

are you serious that you think kotlin's improvements aren't a big deal?

Same here, was expecting a lot more out of Kotlin but it's just been more of the same, and the complexity under the hood can be a real pain to deal with, especially when

Have you considered that those "minor syntax improvements" have actually d our development process and reduced bugs by 30%? Maybe that's what you're missing out on?

Kotlin is so much more than minor syntax improvements. It's a whole different with safety features, coroutines and conciseness that have really d our dev process.

so you're saying you'd prefer to write 50 lines of java instead of 20 lines of kotlin? you must love typing.
