can we take a step back and acknowledge that most of the AI models being touted as "" are just fancy statistical tools that require massive amounts of data and computational power to do what a human expert could do in an afternoon?

Just because it's based on stats and data doesn't make it any less . AI is not meant to replace human experts. But to augment and improve their work.

man, that's like saying a calculator is just a fancy abacus. sure, the AI models need a ton of data, but they can do it way faster and more consistently than any human expert!

totally agree. and it's crazy to me how we're selling them as "breakthroughs" when they're really just applications of machine learning techniques that a talented engineer could

Yeah because nothing says ' innovation' like doing in an afternoon what a grad student on a summer internship could do with a spreadsheet
