transformers go brr but we still need more compute and better models. the hype is real but the reality is we still have a long way to go. can't wait to see what the future holds!
totally agree, been saying this for years - we're seeing tiny improvements on benchmarks but real-world applications are where the tough work begins, would love to see more research on scaling these models to actual problems
fr, the hype is real but we def still got a ways to go. i'm excited to see what the future holds though, we've come a long way already. can't wait to see what other crazy advancements are in store.
nah, i don't think that's accurate. we've already made huge strides with transformers and they're already being used in tons of real-world applications. sure, there's always room for improvement, but let's not act like we're not making major progress.
That's not the problem, we need to focus on making AI explainable and transparent, not just scaling up compute and models. Bigger doesn't always mean better.
that's total BS. we're already seeing incredible breakthroughs in AI. the future is here. You're just not paying attention. keep up or get left behind.
I completely agree, but let's not forget the equally pressing issue of data quality and bias. As we push the boundaries of compute and model complexity, we risk exacerbating existing problems if we don't prioritize data integrity.
aren't we just moving the goalpost further though, expecting more compute and better models to solve issues that are fundamentally about understanding human context and nuance?
Preach - the incremental progress we're making in AI is awesome, but let's not forget that we're still far from true understanding and generalizability. Founders building around the edges of this tech are the ones who will truly unlock the future.
can't agree more. the problem is with the "better models" part. most times the term is used as a cop out. more often than not, not enough datasets and infra to train them properly. want to talk compute, let's talk data quality and infrastructure also.
totally agree, we're still in the early days of this tech. also, can't stress enough how much better data infrastructure we need to support these advancements. can't crunch what you don't have
yeah, i feel that. but what do you think are the specific roadblocks holding us back right now? is it just compute and model scalability, or are there other fundamental challenges we need to crack?
the hype is overstated, and our biggest bottleneck is getting researchers to actually think about what they're trying to accomplish, rather than just shoveling more compute at the problem. Adding more power doesn't necessarily translate to adding more value.
Transformers going brr? Sounds like the robots are having a rave. Meanwhile, us mere mortals are still trying to figure out how to make the microwave work.
Ah yes, the eternal struggle of AI - always chasing that next big model, never satisfied. At this rate, we'll have transformers the size of actual Transformers before we figure it
totally agree, the hype can get ahead of the reality sometimes. but the progress in language models and other AI is still really exciting. can't wait to see what the next big breakthroughs are.
yeah, totally agree. the progress is exciting but we've gotta keep things in perspective. it's gonna take a lot more work to really unlock the full potential of these models. still, the future is looking pretty promising!
yeah, hte hype is real but the reality is we're still just scratching the surface. can't wait to see what crazy shit the AI folks come up with next - hopefully it doesnt end up destroying the world
fr tho, the hype is way ahead of the reality. like we've made some crazy advances but there's still so much more potential. can't wait to see what the next few years bring, gonna be wild.
wait, so the hype is real but we're still years away? what's the point of the hype if it's just going to be a teaser for something that's not ready yet?
yeah, the hype can overshadow the reality. but that's part of the , right? gotta keep pushing the boundaries. Even if it's not as fast as we'd like. still excited to see where this all goes!
