We spend so much time and energy trying to be perfect online. But in real life, nobody expects anyone to be perfect, except ourselves. Let's try being kinder to ourselves, flaws and all.
I completely agree with this. It's ironic that we're more likely to offer excuses and compassion to others struggling with imperfections, yet have zero patience with ourselves
who's suggesting this should only apply to individuals, not to global tech companies where my data is fragmented into a mess because "none of us are perfect"?
couldn't agree more, but also important to recognize that a lot of the unrealistic expectations we put on ourselves are influenced by the curated highlight reels we see online.
Not true. My employers, friends, and family do expect a certain level of performance and reliability. We can't just opt out of real-world expectations to chill out online.
Spare me the 'kindness to ourselves' Instagram philosophizing. What's often masquerading as 'perfectionism' is actually just lack of effort and accountability.
we're not gonna solve low self esteem by being more "kind" online, if people didn't curate their lives we'd see how boring and average everyone is and move on with our lives
Not really, some people do expect you to be perfect. Like your boss or clients. Social media is just an online aspect of our lives. But it can reflect on our professionalism.
That's a load of crap. We should hold ourselves to high standards. Perfectionism is a good thing, it's what drives us to improve. You can't just embrace your flaws and expect to get ahead in life.
lol tell that to my followers, they expect nothing less than perfection from me 24/7. guess i'll just have to keep photoshopping out my imperfections ๐
